About Me
I am a registered and chartered Physiotherapist living in Penistone, specialising in domiciliary physiotherapy.
I will visit you in your own home, and will cover Penistone and the surrounding areas.
I provide a thorough consultation and assessment with professional advice and work with you to provide a personalised treatment plan as required.
I can also assess your home environment and work with you to improve your ability to remain at home and live as independently as you can.
This can include accessibility to stairs and steps and getting outdoors.
Are you struggling to be as active, do you feel like you may benefit from walking aids or equipment but you aren't sure what would be the best option, I can help you with this.
Are you falling, or you feel your balance is affecting your mobility, I can assess your falls risk and your environment and we can work together to try to reduce the risk.
Are you recovering from surgery, i.e. a hip or knee replacement but you aren't sure what you need to do or what options are available to optimise your recovery, I can help you with this.
Training and Experience
I first qualified as a physiotherapist in 1993, graduating from Leeds University, achieving a BSc (Hons) degree. I worked in Leeds in Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and musculoskeletal outpatients. I moved to Barnsley as a Senior physiotherapist and had an MSK outpatient clinic in Penistone.
In 2003 I had a change in career and joined South Yorkshire Police for 19 years.
I returned to Practice as a Physiotherapist in 2019, I am currently working as a Senior Physiotherapist for the NHS, in Leeds Community Healthcare trust. I have a further 7 years of experience in the community. My current role is in a team following patients out of hospital, to ensure they recover well and safely, and build their mobility and independence back to how they were before their hospital stay. This can be after hip and knee surgery, a period of being unwell, falls and losing their ability to manage as they did previously.
I am registered as a member of the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) and a member of the CSP (Chartered Society of Physiotherapists).
